Fløibanen Funicular – a Bergen attraction
Don't miss out on a visit to Bergen's most popular attraction. A ride on the Fløibanen Funicular is a real must. In only a few minutes, the funicular takes you up to the top of Fløyen, awarding breathtaking views of Bergen, wonderful scenery and great hikes.
The funicular runs on rails and has two carriages - Rødhette (in red) and Blåmann (in blue). Each carriage has capacity for up to 100 passengers. The modern design carriages have ceilings of glass to afford the best views, and take you up the mountainside at a speed of 4.2 metres per second.
Fløibanen dates back to 1918 but has seen a number of modernisations since then, the most recent in 2002. The carriages installed in 2002 now represent the fourth generation of carriages (read more about the history of Fløibanen).
The funicular runs day in day out all year round, and is open from early morning to late evening. During daytime, departures run every 15 minutes, or even more frequently if we have high passenger numbers (see menu for opening hours).
Tickets are for sale at the ticket office in the lower station, and the ticket prices are reasonable - only NOK 70 per adult and NOK 35 per child (see also menu for prices and tickets).
Our ticket sellers, conductors and drivers do their absolute best to ensure an enjoyable trip with Fløibanen.
Don't leave Bergen until you've taken a trip with Fløibanen - we look forward to meeting you!
